Jenni's Infusion Recipe

Cucumber Ranch Water

In the heart of the scorching Texas summer, a hero emerged to conquer the relentless heatwaves – the Cucumber Ranch Water!

It all started when I had my first Ranch Water, shortly after moving to Texas. It quickly became my unofficial anthem. There’s nothing quite like the fizz of sparkling water, the kick of tequila, and the zesty lime combination. But, being the adventurer that I am, I felt the need to add a twist to this already fantastic concoction.

Enter the cucumber, the unsung hero of hydration. It was the perfect addition to cool down on a hot day. It became the gateway to unlimited flavor combinations. Add in some jalapeño for spice, ginger for a kick, or mint for more freshness.

When life gives you heat, infuse it with cucumber and make it a party!

INGREDIENTS

  • 750 mL tequila blanco or vodka
  • 1 cucumber, peeled and sliced

DIRECTIONS

  1. Peel and slice cucumber, removing the seeds and skin.
  2. Drop cucumber into the infuser container and fill with booze of choice.
  3. Let sit for 1-2 days until the infusion has reached the desired flavor.

TIP: Don’t skip the peeling or seeding steps; both the peel and seeds have a bitterness to them that will transfer quickly to the booze!

COCKTAIL RECIPE

Fill a glass with ice. Add about three ounces (two shots) of cucumber-infused vodka or tequila blanco and about an ounce and a half (a shot) of fresh lime juice. Top with your choice of sparkling mineral water. Garnish with a fresh cucumber slice on the rim of the glass. Want to add spice? Muddle a few jalapeño slices with your cucumber-infused vodka or tequila blanco!

Eve's Infusion Recipe

Infused Vodka Bloody Mary

When I was a kid, my parents would always tell me to eat my vegetables. Now that I’m an adult, I always eat my veggies… but sometimes I like to drink them too!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 White Onion, Sliced
  • 1-2 Celery Sliced Stalks
  • Fresh Dill
  • 1 Lemon, Quartered
  • 2 Carrots, Sliced
  • 1 English Cucumber Sliced into Rings
  • 6 Peeled Garlic Cloves
  • Vodka

DIRECTIONS

  1. Wash vegetables well before preparing.
  2. Add slices of the veggies and herbs to a container.
  3. Top with Vodka.
  4. Allow to infuse in the refrigerator for 3 days before serving.
  5. Remove (and discard) all the vegetables and strain clean.

COCKTAIL RECIPE

  1. Pour some celery salt onto a small plate.
  2. Rub the juicy side of the lemon or lime wedge along the lip of a pint glass.
  3. Roll the outer edge of the glass in celery salt until fully coated, then fill the glass with ice and set aside.
  4. Squeeze the lemon and lime wedges into a shaker and drop them in.

Rodrigo's Recipe

Spicy Mexican Martini

The mix of spicy jalapeño and tangy lime is just right for a summer day, and the tequila gives it that extra kick I love. I usually like to make one when I can just sit outside and enjoy the weather. It’s easy to make, and that little bit of spice from the jalapeño makes it more interesting than a regular drink.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2-3 jalapeno slices (plus more for garnish if desired)
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 ounces tequila (preferably reposado)
  • 1 ounce Grand Marnier
  • ½ ounce brine from jalapeno-stuffed olives
  • ½ ounce agave nectar
  • Ice
  • Lime slices for garnish (optional)
  • Coarse sea salt for garnish (optional)
  • Chili powder for garnish (optional)
  • Jalapeno-stuffed olives for garnish (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1.  Add jalapeno slices and lime juice to a cocktail shaker. Muddle the jalapeno slices to release their oils.
  2. Add the tequila, Grand Marnier, brine, agave nectar, and a handful of ice. Put on the top and shake vigorously for 15-30 seconds.
  3. Run a lime slice around the rim of a martini glass. On a small plate, stir together about equal parts sea salt and chili powder to make a cohesive mixture. Swirl the rim of the martini glass into the salt-chili powder mixture.
  4. Strain the martini into the glass. Garnish with olive slices, a lime slice, and additional jalapeno slices if desired.

Kristin's Infusion Recipe

Summertime Spicy Vodka

My sweet friends Rhodes and Jeff gifted me with this infuser for Christmas several years ago. I immediately started playing around with recipes and infusing different vodka flavors. At the time I was on a spicy kick so I played around with different peppers. Below is my favorite spicy vodka recipe with a summertime twist.

INGREDIENTS

  • Serrano peppers
  • Vodka
  • Lemonade
  • Soda water
  • Lime

DIRECTIONS

  1. Add cut serrano peppers to the infuser and fill with vodka.
  2. Let it sit for several days/weeks to fully infuse the pepper flavors into the vodka.
  3. To a shaker add ice, 1 ounce of serrano pepper infused vodka, 2 ounces of lemonade, 2 ounces of soda water, squeeze of fresh lime juice. Then, shake, shake, shake!
  4. Pour into your favorite tajin rim lined glass and enjoy!

Lynn's Infusion Recipe

Farigoule - Flowering Thyme Liquor

Maybe it was the setting. Perhaps it was the people. Maybe it was the food. But it was definitely the sip. This one sip at the end of a beautiful lunch has made a lasting impact and one that I have tried so very hard to replicate.

In 2022, Elizabeth’s son, Mac, spent a year in France at culinary school and staged around the south of France. So, of course, we had to fly over there and check in on his well-being…it was the least we could do! This meal was just one of the many we were so fortunate to have enjoyed that year!

The French love thyme and this herb produces beautiful, subtle, and sweet flowers in the spring. If you have access to three simple ingredients and patience, you too can enjoy a sip of Farigoule. I look forward to making this flowering thyme liquor in my Seventh Scout infuser because I have yet to find Farigoule stateside.

Start this infusion in the spring when flowering thyme is in season, and be sure to have some tape handy to mark your dates on the bottle…this thyme takes time.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 oz flowering thyme (~1 large handful)
  • ½ 750ml of 80-proof vodka
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup boiling water
Lynn Yeldell

DIRECTIONS

  1. Gather your thyme, rinse it, and place it in the infuser basket. If you want a sweeter outcome, use more flowers. More intense, use more thyme leaves.
  2. Fill the glass infuser, leaving room at the top for the infusion basket
  3. Return the basket to the infuser container
  4. Top off with vodka and invert the infuser a few times to soak and cover the thyme (I love watching the bubbles during this aeration!)
  5. Seal the infuser, mark the date on the bottle, and store it in a cool, dark place for at least two weeks and up to two months. Be sure to periodically shake and invert the infuser and use the metal straw to extract tasting samples. The longer it steeps, the stronger the flavor.
  6. When your infusion is to your liking, make the simple syrup by adding ½ cup of sugar to ½ cup of boiling water. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  7. Once cooled, combine your infused vodka with the cooled simple syrup in a clean bottle or jar.
  8. Seal this jar, mark the date on the outside, and store it for at least two more months before serving. (I know, right?) And be sure to drink within one year.
  9. Enjoy in a cocktail, over some ice cream, on the rocks, or, my favorite, neat after a meal.
