Welcome to Lynn Yeldell’s Hometown of New Orleans, LA

The Magic of New Orleans: Lynn Yeldell’s Roots

Lynn Yeldell’s story begins in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, where she was born and raised. Lynn lived in the area during her childhood from 1968 to 1986 and again after her college graduation in 1993 to 2005 before moving to Austin, TX.

She cherished the feeling of living in a city that always seemed like a dream destination for visitors. Her favorite parts of New Orleans were diverse and unique. The European charm of streetcar rides down Saint Charles Avenue, the sophisticated allure of Royal Street’s galleries, and the bustling atmosphere of the French Market all held a special place in her heart. “New Orleans is truly magical,” Lynn says with a nostalgic smile.

Living in the French Quarter for nearly three years, Lynn experienced the neighborhood’s true essence beyond its tourist reputation. Contrary to the typical perception, it is a real community with grocery stores, coffee shops, and familiar faces. Each morning, locals walk their dogs and pick up their newspapers, painting a serene picture of daily life that starkly contrasts the lively nights just a few streets away on Bourbon Street.

New Orleans is famous for its po’ boy sandwiches, Mardi Gras parades, and Jazz Fest. Lynn fondly recalls riding in the oldest all-women’s parade, Iris, with her mother for 14 years. The city boasts notable figures, from musicians like Louis Armstrong and Lil’ Wayne to writers such as Truman Capote and Anne Rice. Lynn’s personal connection to these cultural touchstones is palpable.

Navigating Change: Lynn’s Unexpected Journey to Seventh Scout

Lynn’s journey to Seventh Scout was unexpected but profoundly impactful. It began with a call from Rhodes Gibson, an old acquaintance from her early days in Austin, who invited her to consult on an RFP. Despite facing personal setbacks at the time, Lynn found herself drawn to the opportunity. This eventually led her to become the sole owner after Rhodes passed away from Pancreatic cancer. On this transition, Lynn shares, “While owning an agency alone wasn’t my initial plan, I’m grateful to work with an amazing team.”

The resilience and adaptability Lynn learned from Hurricane Katrina were pivotal in navigating the challenges of agency ownership, including the loss of Rhodes, office moves, and the pandemic. “Surrounding myself with the right people and maintaining open communication has been crucial,” she notes.

Diverse Backgrounds, United Goals

Growing up in New Orleans taught Lynn the value of personal connections, a principle she carries into her work at Seventh Scout. She believes our team, though seemingly similar on the surface, is incredibly diverse in backgrounds, aspirations, and approaches. This diversity strengthens our work, ensuring thoughtful and innovative solutions for their clients.

Lynn emphasizes the richness that diverse perspectives and experiences bring to our work. The team’s collective wisdom benefits Seventh Scout, our clients, and our partners, making us a more vital, more effective partner.
