Take Action In Your Own Way

This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I have to admit, having been around several courageous women who have fought breast cancer, it can leave this mere digital director feeling powerless. While there are a number of ways that we can – and should – show our support for those affected by breast cancer, it is important to set aside some time this month to contribute to this effort.

Showing support for those affected by breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As a Digital Director, I spend most days working with campaigns and creative to help businesses grow—results that I can influence and measure.

Awareness

Did you know that 1 out of every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime? The numbers are staggering, and while it’s critical to be informed on early detection and diagnosis, it’s also necessary to learn how to emotionally support those being impacted by breast cancer. The National Breast Cancer Foundation is a great resource and has put together a great collection of helpful information. Learn more about early detection, myths and FAQs.

Donate

There are two valuable resources in this fight – time and money. People can donate in different ways – from volunteering their time or donating – both are invaluable in showing our support. The American Cancer Society maintains a list of volunteer opportunities â€“ everything from driving cancer patients to appointments to running for the cause. Seventh Scout was fortunate to work with the Cancer Action Network who helps enact laws and policies that fight cancer – learn more about this great organization.

Participate

There are a number of events this month where people come together to help show their support in their own way. We at Seventh Scout are honored to be working with Julien Fleuryon the third annual Beers on Pink event happening in Austin, Texas on October 19th. Julien is an accomplished photographer who has built this annual event as a way to show his support for those fighting breast cancer as well as honor his amazing mother. Beers on Pink is an event that combines the unique culture of craft beer and raising awareness for this special cause. Learn more at BeersOnPink.com or better yet, see you there on October 19th.

This month, it’s an honor to be a part of this incredible effort. In whatever way you choose, take an action to help support the fight against breast cancer.

On a personal note, I am contributing to this effort and thinking of Mercie, Gloria, Christine, and Marylin. Who are you thinking of?
