blog featured image: scoutisms, the idioms of seventh scout

Here at Seventh Scout, we like to mix things up with our quirky and off-beat vocabulary, adding a touch of fun to our everyday lingo. From “Lort!” to “dusty stick,” our unique words and expressions, also known as Scoutisms, are what make us stand out from the crowd. And you know what? We wouldn’t want it any other way! Our ultra-talented graphic designer Eve has taken these expressions and turned them into visual works of art that will make you chuckle and maybe even scratch your head a little bit. So come on in, take a look, and get to know us a little better through our fun and quirky lexicon.

idiom
noun: an expression in the usage of a language that is peculiar to itself either in having a meaning that cannot be derived from the conjoined meanings of its elements (such as up in the air for "undecided") or in its grammatically atypical use of words (such as give way)
scoutism
noun: a secret code language of slang terms used by members of the Seventh Scout team. Similar to the idiom, but with a more Scout-y twist to it.

The Story Behind Scoutisms

We asked Eve to explain where the Scoutisms idea originated and what she thought of them! “I think the two OG scoutisms are “Woop Woop!” and “Yes, and”. Rhodes would always say the former whenever something good happened, or when something was accomplished/completed. The latter is of course 100% Lynn, and I love the way it conveys agreement and engagement with an idea. I love how each of these two scoutisms connote enthusiasm and positivity, and relate perfectly to Seventh Scout’s “Be Nice. Make Better.” ethos.”

Humanizing your brand is something that Seventh Scout is always repeating to one another and our clients! Our team is full of unique personalities that fit together perfectly, and these Scoutisms share an inside piece to those personalities and our team.
