We are delighted to share that Seventh Scout received three  awards at the 19th Annual Davey Awards! An homage to David conquering Goliath, the Davey Awards are “ the largest and most prestigious awards competition exclusively for the “Davids” of creativity. David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock – the sort of thing small agencies do each year. The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the “Creative Davids” who derive their strength from big ideas, rather than stratospheric budgets.” The recognition genuinely humbles us, and we’d like to celebrate this achievement by recognizing the website we crafted for the Long Center of Performing Arts – a project that holds a special place in our hearts.

Long Center's Community-Centric Website Redesign

The Long Center was undergoing a transformative shift from being merely a venue to positioning itself as a community asset. When COVID-19 shuttered venues and stages, the Long Center staff, committed to community support, swiftly adapted, relying on a stronger digital presence and social media.

Seventh Scout, recognizing the limitations of a pre-pandemic website centered around ticket sales, took on the project pro bono to rebuild the Long Center’s digital presence. The revamped site aimed to be a community hub, prioritizing connection and communication. It provided an informative and user-friendly experience, featuring easily customizable templates for the internal team to adapt swiftly to evolving needs during the pandemic.

The redesign addressed the shortcomings of the previous website, which focused on event calendars and ticket sales but neglected to convey the organization’s mission and offerings, such as memberships and rentals, and despite being on WordPress, the old site’s restrictive templates hindered the team’s ability to make necessary changes without developer support.

The Long Center’s transformed website showcases the organization’s resilience and commitment to the Austin creative community. Its digital presence solidified the Long Center’s role as an accessible and valuable community asset, embodying its mission to serve beyond being a traditional venue.
